General Management:
- The Kearney Community Hall Board held one formal in-person meeting in 2024, at the Hall. Additional frequent communication was via telephone, text, and email. I continued to send out periodic email updates. Notes are on file.
– The Hall was rented for 35 days in 2024, generating $5,669.21.
- I continue to apply and refine the Booking Application, a Rate Schedule, and a Rental Agreement with input from board members.
- Our web site continues to be maintained largely by volunteer JoAnne Puckett. I update the event calendar.
- We have had marginal success in securing and individual for regular mowing. Purchase of a lawn more is subject to that being accomplished.
Construction Update:
- The EFS and installation project is completed, including painting lower cement board, backfilling, and seeding the area immediately adjacent to the building not covered by the deck.
- Additional quilts were hung. There is room for more.
- The outdoor bar was reconstructed on the west deck. Its surface remains to be refinished.
- We began the process of replacing the K E A R N E Y sign on the outside east wall.
- Additional lights were donated for the Hall.
Next renovation steps, by priority:
- Outbuilding for storage
- Outhouse
- Hang more quilts
- Lawn Mower
- Programable door lock
- More tables & chairs - Refinish dance floor
- Paint interior walls
- Fans in the hall ceiling
- Playground, outdoor grill, lounging/picnic area, landscaping, sidewalks, parking stops (hitch rails)
Fundraising:
Fundraising sources for 2024 included rental fees, cash donations, and two fundraising events. Local volunteers are hosting a regular “Family Dance”. Partners from Sheridan hosted a fundraiser/music event, and are scheduled to have another in spring 2025.
